Photogram Image Making

  • Noc Darkroom at Engine 128 Main Street Biddeford, ME, 04005 United States (map)

Get an introduction to photography's oldest format: the photogenic drawing as Henry Fox Talbot coined it. Today it's most commonly known as the photogram. Using the darkroom and sunlight, learn to make various types of photograms using translucent materials. The goal is to get a beautifully crisp and contrasted print while learning the tips and tricks to attain the most beautiful photographic imagery you will ever make in the darkroom without a camera. Bring a bag lunch, any negative images and/or a found object from nature to use for its shape (leaves, pine cone, etc.).

Savanna Pettengill, a BFA graduate of photography from MECA, loves sharing her photographic process. Her work iis a gathering of spontaneous and subconscious reactions to her surroundings, woven into visual narratives about the beauty and traumas of life.
